Go /p/ro:
• Please post images that are JPG format and ideally smaller than 1 MB, and/or about 1000 pixels on the longest side.
• Expect to be judged harshly. Learn to deal with it.

Want:
• We come here for photos, so post yours as often as possible, even if "image unrelated" to your text.
• "Flickr/500px/Tumblr/Facebook/Portfolio" threads are for critique and networking.
• Use "Recent Photos" threads if you are shy or only want to post a couple of photos.
• Shared raw files which we can collectively edit for discussion of post-processing techniques, are encouraged.
• Use the Catalog to consolidate similar topics (photographic themes, images or technical gear threads).

Do not want:
• Go to /wsr/ or /r/ for specific Photoshop requests.
• Gear threads are discouraged, but identified as necessary. Many users simply hide these threads.

Yeah but you get a very up close view of a bird. If it's a powerful zoom it'll definitely be useful.

Ha. Most bird photographers also enjoy other types, nature and wildlife in general.
It's just that birds are peak camera gear flex, or you're old enough now to dump tons of money into the hobby that you can now zoom into a birds asshole.

Also, as you get older you find that outdoors things get more difficult, and photography keeps you outdoors but it's at a slower pace.

I started getting into wildlife photography because I enjoyed hiking as a hobby, but once I had a kid, all my other hobbies just became too difficult, so I paired one hobby I had always been interested in with one that my wife can't realistically get angry at me for spending a few hours on rhe weekend doing. Also, if I had a hobby at home it would get interrupted constantly.

It would be pretty satisfying to go into the /p birding thread and absolutely mog everyone though.
Nobody else is ever going to be able to afford that lens either so you will just keep winning every single thread.

Photos you took when you were just beginning on film photography but that still hold up decently today edition

/fgt/ daily reminder (courtesy by anon): one stop per decade is (generally) bullshit
>negative film ages better than positive
>black and white better than color
>slow films better than fast
>storage conditions (dry/cool) matter more than years
>Negative film is shot 1 or 2 stops overexposed and then PULLED in development so that you build more density in the exposure and develop less such that the fog is limited
>slide/positive film is shot at box speed or overexposed and pulled.
>if you home develop you can also use benzotriazole as a restrainer for the the first developer in E6 process

Seems we don't got one right now, so I will start.

Pic related - it's from my LX100. I've heard that she is kinda prone to sensor dust, but is this actually sensor dust? Or an error on the Sensor?

There used to be two dots but I was able to eliminate one with the "vacuum cleaner trick" - cut out the bottom of a 0,5l bottle and put it over the extended lense. Then suck away.

Worked already two times for me, but not with this fucker.

I don't use that software, but it just looks like the image is scaled differently and the noise comes out looking different between them.

I bought a G92. Generally considered better than the GH6 similar to how the original G9 was considered better than the GH5 in most respects. If you visit forums, a lot of people are waiting for a GH6II that incorporates all the G9II features. It would be nice if the much improved autofocus and dual gain tech found in the G9II and GH6 trickled its way down into smaller bodies.

Picking a camera is very subjective so the reason I went went with the G9II because I take video and the IBIS is good enough to walk with; maybe as good or even better than the Olympus. Better dynamic range and low ISO performance as well with some caveats.

If I were doing photography, I would probably pick the Olympus. It's lighter, smaller, has top-tier weather sealing, plus I like the Olympus lens lineup better. BUT, you can get full frame or APS-C cheaper and get all the quality benefits that entails for the same or less weight. My trusty old A6500 is higher quality (lower noise and better autofocus) than the G9/G9 II and it is much smaller and lighter. That's tough to beat unless you really hate tripods/gimbals or need very long exposures. Even though many m43 fans say the superior IBIS in a smaller sensor is guaranteed through physics, I think full frame will catch up to at least have IBIS that works when walking and I will definitely switch. Came real close to getting the R6 II or A7SIII as those are the only full framers that I know of that shoot full sensor 4k60 but IBIS is top priority for me.

One thing I hate about the G9 II is the time it takes to go from "off" or even standby to actually record. Battery life stinks so I'll probably have to just carry a handful of extras to avoid that issue. All that bulk on a m43 body and they couldn't get a bigger battery?
>>
>>4315168
Full frame already has 8 stop IBIS. The gimbal effect in video is a software issue.

>olympus has top tier weather sealing
Their marketing department says so. In reality everyone but fuji has the same weather sealing. If panasonic breaks all the time and i dont know about it, thats because there’s maybe 200 panasonic users>>4315168

Color is mostly determined by the lens
Then the CFA specs and proprietary raw cooking
Then by the raw converters settings
Then by the display medium and room lighting

Imagine if you could not shoot raw. One camera equals one film stock. Not happy? New camera time or gearfag over lens color transmission until the end of time.

Also, AWB fucking up? Always. Have fun manually setting white balance all the time.

Oh wait thats how fujislug consoomers actually live
>omg must buy for the new film sim!
>>
>>4313125
all that and it gets worse
8 bit color, 10 with limited compatibility, thats it
lossy format
being stuck with whatever shitty “sharpening” and “chroma/luma nr” the camera maker could fit on the shitty low-power chips that cameras must use in the name of battery life
if moire or fujiworms happen you are stuck with that

negative film unironically had more editing latitude and general utility than jpeg
jpeg = digital is worse than film period. only a fucking retard would accept this trash. 1hr photo automated printing does a better job. all digital photography looks like godawful soulless shit.
raw = ok, now digital is as good as consumer 35mm film… if you have like, 36mp, at least.

people mostly my age have no idea how much worse the average digital camera is compared to a $15 roll of portra in a cheapo nikon slr

Fixed f/10, 1/100th, 30mm lens with ISO 800 film means its trying to cover as many situations as possible while maintaining a relatively sharp shot, but the lens is plastic, and kind of shit, so its always going to be a little soft and soupy.

Kodak do have a Tri-X disposable camera, which, with the flash on, makes for a fun street carry.

Yeah, sure, it's a long focal length. Although depends on what you're planning to shoot. I'd get something longer for birds, but 275mm is fine for general telephoto fun.
>>
>>4313926
It's a 1040mm lens for my 4x5 camera, so it may work if I crop a little.

I think I want to try using it for architectural, landscape, and maybe portraits.
